St-Malo Festival of Friends
The annual St-Malo Festival of Friends offers a spectacular celebration of culture, cuisine and tradition. Ignore the cold and snow and get out and celebrate all that St-Malo Provincial Park has to offer in the winter. The park will be bursting with culinary experiences, fantastic regional cultural entertainment and wonderful winter family activities. Beat the cold and make the St-Malo Festival of Friends a family tradition.
Since February 2008, a Friends Winter Festival is held during the Louis Riel long weekend to celebrate this "Joie de Vivre".
History
In February 2008, the Friends of the St-Malo Provincial Park became partners with Festival du Voyageur. Mavis Tailleu met with the board to review strategy for a 4 season park. An idea was to start a winter festival to make a large impression. The following year Friends of the St-Malo Park negotiated a partnership agreement with Festival du Voyageur. This partnership helped to promote the "Festival" Joie de Vivre in the rural french community of St-Malo and the surrounding region.
The purpose of the St-Malo Festival of Friends is to spread the Joie de Vivre and re-live the culture of the era. It is a way of promoting french/bilingual artists and make the bilingual aspect of the Province a major economic force and an asset of our province. The Friends of the St-Malo Park have the opportunity to promote the park's winter activities such as cross country skiing, tobagganing, skating and snowshoeing.
